The Port of Roses has been awarded the Blue Flag in a ceremony held Sunday l'Ametlla de Mar. In total, 86 beaches have been awarded (2 more than last year) and 22 ports of Catalonia (3 more than in 2010) a total of 43 municipalities. The head of Planning and Sustainability, highlighted the good and the beaches of the Catalan ports.

Recoder stressed the importance of these awards, which are located off the coast of Catalonia and one of the most important tourist destinations in the southern Mediterranean. However, the Minister said that the condition of the beaches is the result of the adoption of civic attitudes persevering, to prevent the dumping of waste on beaches and acting on the source of waste generation. Not surprisingly, it is noteworthy that in recent years have seen a decline in the volume of waste collected at the coastline (between 2003 and 2010 registered a decrease of 77%), thanks to performances at the source ( closure of landfills, improved sanitation systems, cleaning and recovery section of the drainage channels, among others) and to promote behaviors that generate a responsible attitude on the beach.
